Tesla Powerwall 3

Tesla Powerwall 3 is available from World Solar!  If you are looking for an all in one system then this is it.

  • The Powerwall 3 not only stores power but has its own built-in DC inverter which connects to your panels, whereas the Tesla Powerwall 2 can only store power.
  • Powerwall 3 stores your solar energy for backup protection, so when the grid goes down your power stays on.
  • Powerwall home battery continues Tesla’s mission and makes clean energy accessible to all, day and night.

FAQ

Have Questions?
Ask Us

How much does residential solar cost in New Zealand?

In New Zealand, residential solar typically costs:

  • $9,000 – $12,000 for a standard 3–5 kW system (most common home size)
  • $12,000 – $18,000+ for a larger 6–8 kW system
  • Add $10,000 – $18,000 if you include battery storage

The exact price depends on system size, roof layout, panel/inverter brand, installation complexity, and whether you add batteries or EV charging.

What size solar system is right for my household?

A good rule is if you choose a system that covers ~60–100% of your annual electricity use.

Can I get solar panels if I have an older home?

Yes, you can install solar panels on an older home in New Zealand as long as the roof is suitable.
Most older houses are fine if:

  • The roof is structurally sound (no rot or major damage)
  • The roof angle and orientation get reasonable sun (north, north-east or north-west is best)
  • There’s space available without too many shade issues (trees/chimneys)
How do I know if my roof is suitable for solar panels?

Your roof is suitable for solar if it’s structurally sound, has good sun exposure (ideally north-facing with minimal shade), enough clear space for panels, and meets current electrical standards.

What happens to my solar panels during a power cut?

During a power cut, most standard grid-connected solar systems automatically switch off for safety, so your panels won’t power your home even if the sun is shining.  If you have a battery with backup capability or a specialised hybrid/off-grid system, you can keep selected circuits running during an outage.

Do solar panels increase my home's value in New Zealand?

Yes — solar panels can increase your home’s value in New Zealand, because many buyers see them as a way to reduce future electricity costs and make the property more attractive. Studies suggest homes with owned solar systems often sell for higher prices—sometimes by several thousand dollars or more—than similar homes without solar.

How long do residential solar panels last?

Most residential solar panels last 25–30 years or more, and many continue producing power well beyond that, just at slightly reduced efficiency over time.
